ABOUT "KUUMBA"
Kuumba, meaning "creativity" in Swahili, is CFEA's highly anticipated audition workshop and talent showcase, now in its third year. Join us in this transformative program meticulously crafted to refine your skills and catapult you into the spotlight, where your creative artistry will shine for all to see.
Our mission is clear: to amplify the presence of Black talent within the Central Florida area. Elevate your talent and expand your horizons, step into the spotlight with Kuumba and let your creativity soar to new heights. Together, let's make a resounding statement of Black excellence and artistic brilliance.
AUDITION WORKSHOPS
Participants of the KUUMBA audition workshops will bring in their own audition material to work on with leading industry professionals. All audition workshops will be scheduled as individual appointments, taking place on ONE of the designated audition workshop dates. Dates and times for each of the audition workshops are listed below:
Wednesday, October 23rd: 11am-4pm
Thursday, October 24th: 6pm-10pm
Friday, October 25th: 1pm-6pm
The KUMMBA team will professionally film the participant's audition material at the end of their designated audition workshop appointment. The filmed material will then be distributed to participating local and regional casting professionals, directors, and other employers. (For a list of previous participating companies and agents, please visit www.CFEAnow.org). Work session participants will be notified of advancement no later than Monday, October 14th. (NOTE: Not all applications will be advanced to participate in the showcase.) Audition workshops will take place at Fringe ArtSpace in Orlando, FL.
APPRENTICESHIP SESSION
Participants interested in learning more about creative, administrative, and other "behind the table" roles (Casting, Producing & Directing, Creative Development/Theatre Admin, and Music Directing) may choose to sign up to attend the apprenticeship session on Thursday October 24th from 2pm-5pm. At this session industry leaders from a variety of fields will host a informative session and Q&A about their respective fields, their career journey, and share the different paths that lead to a career behind the table.
SHOWCASE
CFEA will also produce a one-night talent showcase on Sunday October 27th at Fringe ArtSpace. The talent line up for the showcase will include select work session participants, as well as other invited artists, performing groups, and organizations.

Please submit a headshot and resume, and based on your preferred skill set/discipline please submit a self-taped recording of the following:
SINGERS (Musical Theatre/Entertainment Gig): 32 Bar Cut of a Musical Theatre, Pop, Rock or R&B song
ACTORS (Theatre and/or TV/FILM): 1 minute monologue (contemporary, classic, or Shakespearean) or short scene.
DANCERS: 45 second dance combo in any style and/or Dance Reel.
NOTE: Performers may submit more than one discipline. Musical pieces should be accompanied by piano, either live or piano-only track, or an MP3 accompaniment track.
