ABOUT THE SHOW

Since February is supposedly the month of love or whatever, we decided to do something a little different for the Ren (meaning, no nudity). Orlando writer Tracey Jane wrote a playful collection of eight short comedies that are fun, fast and flirty skits about love. So grab a date and do something a little different to celebrate Cupid. Or, if you're like us, come have five vodka sodas and make fun of all of the happy stupid people.

Here are some of the short plays that will be presented!

Love Serving Love: A Short Play About Stupid Cupid - A grumpy old man disillusioned with love meets his match at Vita Villagio, an active retirement community in West Palm Beach, Florida. With the help of a mischievous imp named Vinny, Charlie and Desiree make unexpected discoveries about each other and themselves.

Welcome to Intercourse - Two gal pals on a road trip to forget about men have an encounter with the unexpected when their car breaks down in Amish Country.

Meet the Pets - Nothing goes to plan when a player brings home a people-pleaser eager to meet “them”: Daisy and Mr. Cuddles. The pets observe a human date in this anthropomorphic comedy.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

Each actor will play different characters in multiple short plays. The following character descriptions are only some of the roles to choose from and are specifically for reading sides.

CHARLIE ECHO: A grumpy old man 60’s and up, ostensibly a retired pilot who flew Wings of Love airlines, disgruntled with the whole business of love, seeking solitude, golf and Mojitos in his golden years at Vita Villagio. His name is derived from the ICAO phonetic alphabet, code for Cupid Eros.

DESIREE (DESI) CHANDLER: Woman 60’s and up, friendly, flirty, and personable. A widow of a long, happy marriage. A passionate, resilient recreational tennis player, whose key lime and mango tarts are divine.

VINNY: An impish boy (8-12) who wears prescription goggles for his poor vision and water “wings”. Mischievous, eager to shoot his arrows, taking amor vincit omnia (love conquers all) literally. This role will be played by an adult.

PEGGY: Conscientious, task-oriented career woman from the city, 20’s, a CPA on the heels of a bad break-up, giving in to self-pity.

EVA: Peggy’s confident, uninhibited Latina best friend, 20’s, frustrated by men who only want ‘one thing,’ determined to cheer up her BFF.
