Kelsay + Morales Company is currently accepting video submissions for LA MEDEA, a new adaptation of the Greek tragedy Medea, produced by Renaissance Theatre Company in Orlando, FL.


SEEKING: AEA (pending approval) and Non-Union Latinx/Latine Actors for principal roles AND Latinx/Latine actors with musical ability for "Greek Chorus." All actors should be able to speak Spanish fluently or conversationally.


Video Submissions due by Wednesday December 8th, 5PM EST.

Set in Jackson Heights, Queens, NYC, in a Dominican Vudú shop, our story follows the patroness Medéa after having been disgraced by the abandonment of Jason, her now ex-husband. Assisted by her "Greek Chorus," Medea seeks divine intervention in response to his betrayal. This brand new and exciting bilingual adaptation fuses the vibrant Latinx culture, original music and orchestrations, with the timeless story of Medea, bringing this classic Greek drama into the 21st Century!

MEDÉA: Female Identifying, 30-45, Dominican, Vudú Ritualist & Psychic

CELIANA: Female Identifying, 30-50, Shopkeeper of el boticario, Medea’s confidant


JASON: Male Identifying, Budding politician, Medea’s Ex-Husband, a man that goes through life seeing no fault in his actions.

GASPARA: Female Identifying, 20-25, Daughter of the Queens Burroughs President, an air of privilege. Will also be in the Chorus.

MAGDALENA: Female Identifying, 25-35, Gaspara’s friend, one of the “elite women '' that come into Medea’s shop


LOS NIÑOS (2): Male Identifying, Young sons of Medéa and Jason, they are only a year apart in age. May double as chorus.

CHORUS OF VUDUÏSTAS (4-6): Various ages from 18-30, “CHORUS” of Medéa’s ritual mistresses

ELITE WOMEN (2-3): Female Identifying, 30’s, Wealthy Manhattanites and patrons. Will also be in the Chorus. 


Rehearsal Pay: $15/hour 

Show Pay: $75/show

(Note: Actors have the option to choose how they'd like to be paid. You can choose to be a W-2 employee, where we take your taxes out for you, or you can choose to be paid as a 1099 employee. Payment will occur every 2 weeks.)


Rehearsals will begin in late December. The rehearsal schedule will be built in large part around the needs of the performers' schedules. Mostly evenings. 



January 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30. Friday and Saturday show times are at 8pm, and Sunday show times are at 3pm.


Please submit a headshot and resume as well as a video (YouTube or Vimeo link) of ONE of the sides below AND submit ONE 16-32 bar of a musical selection. Actors may submit for multiple roles, if so, prepare one side for each character you would like to be considered for in one video link.
