ABOUT THE SHOW:

Spiderman. Luke Skywalker. Jesus Christ? Told in the style of a classic superhero origin story, immerse yourself in the lost years of Jesus as he learns to master his supernatural powers in this world premiere on stage action/comedy. Before he can save humanity… he must discover himself. Intended for mature audiences only.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

JOSEPH/GOD: 30’s to 50’s, Male presenting, Any Ethnicity

JOSEPH: Joseph is a quiet, focused and stern man, but endlessly caring and kind. He is the harried husband of Mary, who lovingly nags him, and though they spar frequently due to her being high strung and him trying to constantly get work done, they love each other to the ends of the Earth. Joseph has patience, but it does run out here and there. Strong New York accent required to display the harried and classic “nagged husband”.

GOD: An incredibly laid back and relaxed character, with wisdom at every turn. He doesn’t have all the answers, but he’s always doing his best to help others realize there aren’t answers to everything. Being a cosmic being, his brain gets a little confused at times, but he always stays kind, loving, and good natured. Nothing gets to him. Not to be played as drunk or stoned… he’s just effortlessly relaxed and cool.

SOLDIER/SATAN: 20's-40's, Male presenting, Any Ethnicity

SOLDIER 2: A faithful and goofy soldier in the army of King Archelaus of Jerusalem. This “character” plays multiple soldiers throughout the show, so different choices for each are a must. A not serious character, used for comic relief, so subtle comedic choices are a must. Must be comfortable wielding a sword.

SATAN: Classic villain character. Satan is manipulative and frustrated, maniacal and trying to take over the world. Evil and sleaze should ooze out of him as he explains his grand plans for killing Jesus and taking over the world, but with an air of charm and restraint that any proper villain displays before losing their cool. Must be comfortable wielding a sword and learning intense fight choreography.

SOLDIER/VILLAGER: 20's-30's, Female Presenting, Any Ethnicity

SOLDIER 3: A faithful and goofy soldier in the army of Kind Archelaus of Jerusalem. This character plays multiple soldiers throughout the show, so different choices, physically and vocally for each are a must. A not serious character, used for comic relief, so subtle comedic choices are a must. Must be comfortable wielding a sword.

VILLAGER: This character will play a variety of villagers around the town. Strong emotional beats needed, playing a grounded serious character around crazy circumstances. Must be able to display different types of character as a woman caught stealing and a woman who just lost her children in a fire. Versatility a must.
