ABOUT THE SHOW:
Late 90s/ early 2000s London, four lives intertwine over the course of four and a half years in this stinging look at toxic masculinity, modern love, and betrayal.
Dan, a struggling writer, takes Alice, a young woman and part-time stripper, to the hospital when she's hit by a car, and they fall in love. One year later, Dan meets photographer Anna, which begins an obsession as he tries to pursue her while still with Alice. Anna rejects his advances and in revenge, Dan, catfishes as Anna, and tricks Larry, the dermatologist, into “meeting up” with her. After Larry accidentally meets the real Anna, the two end up hitting it off and get together. Another year later, Dan and Anna begin an affair of their own, and the relationships between the four collapse. This sets up a series of pass-the-lover scenes in which this quartet struggle to find truth within intimacy but can’t seem to get closer.
NOTE: This show contains strong language; overtly sexual content.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
ALICE: (FEMALE PRESENTING/IDENTIFYING/NON-BINARY; 20) Alice, a stripper from America, ran away to London to start her life over when she met and fell in love with Dan. You never know if what she is saying about herself is true; she hides behind a mask of snark, lies, and seduction. While Alice is vulnerable, in love, and fearful of rejection, she is still strong enough to walk away. She has been a victim of emotional and physical abuse and thinks Dan is her light at the end of the tunnel.
*American Accent
DAN: (MALE PRESENTING/IDENTIFYING/NON-BINARY; Mid 30s) Dan used to write obituaries for newspapers, but was inspired to write a novel about the life of the woman he loves, Alice. Romantic, charming, and deceptive, all Dan really wants is to be happy. Unfortunately, Dan is never satisfied with what he has, no matter how great it is, and will manipulate those around him to get whatever or whoever he wants. Dan struggles with unrealistic and unhealthy expectations of love which affects everyone around him. *British Accent
ANNA: (FEMALE PRESENTING/IDENTIFYING/NON-BINARY; Late 20s/ Early 30s) Anna, a successful photographer in London, believes she doesn’t deserve happiness which results in constant self-sabotage within her love life. After initially rejecting Dan due to his relationship with Alice, she meets and begins dating Larry. Shortly after however, she and Dan begin a secret affair. Chronic people pleaser, she continues to make poor decisions to make others happy which results in not only heartbreak for herself, but also for those around her. *British Accent
LARRY: (MALE PRESENTING/IDENTIFYING/NON-BINARY; Mid 30s) Larry, a Dermatologist, is a brutally honest, pragmatic, realist. After being catfished by Dan pretending to be Anna , he accidentally meets the real Anna and they fall in love. While usually being the most level headed, he turns and shows his vengeful and crude side after finding out that Anna has been cheating on him. Larry seeks comfort with Alice which sparks more discourse within the group. *British Accent
People of all races, ages, abilities, sexual identities, gender orientations, faiths, and other backgrounds are welcomed and highly encouraged to attend.
